Learning Laboratory for Community Health

About the Lab

Mason’s Learning Laboratory for Community Health responds to the (HRSA-22-135) HRSA Professions Education and Workforce Development to improve education and training of healthcare professional’s directive.

Mason has developed an interprofessional Learning Laboratory focusing on improving health care in our communities and ensuring that students across the University can demonstrate mastery in key related competencies upon graduation.

Importantly, the Learning Laboratory allows students to reflect fully on health priorities and drivers of health, particularly among minoritized groups in Northern Virginia.

Further, students from different disciplines work in groups to design solutions that speak to the real-life barriers and facilitators to improved health.

Students also gain experience implementing evidenced-based projects within the community, thus contributing to local efforts to improve health. This aligns with HRSA’s mission to improve health outcomes and achieve health equity through access to quality services, a skilled health workforce, and innovative, high-value programs.

Learning Lab Mission:

The Learning Laboratory aims to support multidisciplinary training for practicing students and professionals, with special attention to marginalized communities within Northern Virginia.
